OPSMC has provided the medical services to the Hawks since the arrival of Alistair Clarkson in 2005. At that time the Hawks approached the Clinic and asked us to put a high quality team together to work closely with their new Fitness and Coaching Staff in providing the best possible treatment of their players.

Seven OPSMC staff members were involved with the premiership club, doctors Peter Baquie, Michael Makdissi and Drew Slimmon, physiotherapists Andrew Lambart and Andy Stephens, podiatrist Nicki Quigley, and massage therapist Maria di Michele.

It has been an eventful, busy year for the three doctors. Peter Baquie in addition to heading the Hawthorn medial team was Chief Medical Officer for the Australian Olympic team in Beijing, Michael Makdissi was team doctor for the Australian netball team which won the World Championships this year, while Drew Slimmon accompanied the Young Socceroos to a tournament in Vietnam.

OPSMC congratulates the Hawthorn Football Club and is proud that our practitioners made a significant contribution to their success.
