Bio

Mairead graduated from the University of Limerick in 2011, with an honour’s degree in Physiotherapy.  Since then, Mairead has gained vast experience in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy in Ireland, New Zealand and Australia. Mairead values the importance of ongoing learning and development and has since completed a Masters of Physiotherapy (Sports)  at UQ (2020). 

Mairead has a special interest in chronic pain and the value of exercise therapy in pain management. Mairead developed a passion for clinical Pilates early in her career and has since completed extensive training both in New Zealand and Australia. Mairead is passionate about enabling each client to pursue their goals, reach their potential and make long-term positive changes to their life. Mairead also specialises in ankle and knee injuries, including ACL rehabilitation and running injuries.  

While in New Zealand, Mairead became an accredited McKenzie therapist, specialising in the treatment of discogenic spinal pain. Mairead has worked with several sports teams through-out her career, including rugby, football and basketball teams.

Melbourne Campus Fee Statement

A referral from a general or specialist medical practitioner is not required to see Ms Hallissey. The cost of an initial consultation with Ms Hallissey may be up to $129.00 and patients may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $54.60. The cost of a review consultation with Ms Hallissey may be up to $124.00 and patients may be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate of $54.60. To receive a Medicare rebate, the patient must have a Chronic Disease Management Plan (previously known as an Enhanced Primary Care Plan) issued by a general or specialist medical practitioner. Private health insurance rebates may be available too, depending on the terms and conditions of the patient’s insurance. Initial and reviews consultations are generally booked as 30 minute appointments unless otherwise specified by Ms Hallissey in discussion with the patient. Please note that in addition to the charges already mentioned, additional fees may apply, for example, for ultrasound or Shockwave Therapy.
