Professional Cycling Set-Up Service
Cycling Performance
Do you suffer from any of the following when riding?
- Back, Hip or Knee pain
- Stiff/sore neck
- Numbness
Does your cycling lack power and explosiveness?
Do you feel uncomfortable on your bike?
If the answer is “yes” to any of the above questions, then perhaps your bicycle set-up is incorrect and could potentially cause injuries. Many cyclists have an incorrect set-up or poor technique, which can lead to acute and chronic injuries or decreased cycling performance.
Cycling Set-Up
Olympic Park Sports Medicine Clinic offers a professional cycling set-up service with physiotherapist, Andrew Wynd.
Cycling is a complex interaction between the rider and bike which requires detailed knowledge of the mechanics and muscle requirements of the sport. This is where a dynamic bicycle set-up is invaluable in diagnosing and planning appropriate treatment strategies.
Video Assessment
A session involves taking specific measurements to ensure the bike’s dimensions are appropriate and detailed digital video analysis provides valuable feedback to both therapist and client. Movement analysis software is used to determine technique and biomechanical factors that may be contributing to injuries.
Simple adjustments can be made on the spot while recommendations can be made for more complicated changes. Cycling specific exercises or a tailored rehabilitation is often required and Andrew will take the client through this program as part of the session.
Expertise
Andrew Wynd has represented Australia at the 2007 World Nordic Skiing Championships and is a current member of the Australian XC Ski Team. He has raced successfully in triathlon and cycling events and combines this personal knowledge with his professional experience to assist cyclists of all levels.
