Hand Therapy is a profession of therapists with post graduate training and extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of hand, wrist and elbow injury.

HOW WE CAN HELP YOU

Our Therapists at OPMSC use an evidence based treatment approach to assess and treat complex sports trauma of the upper limb.

Hand Therapy includes:

  • Assessment and treatment of hand, wrist and elbow injuries including, Scaphoid fracture, Scapho-lunate ligament injury, Colle’s fracture, finger fracture or dislocation, Bennet’s fracture or tendon injury
  • Assessment of upper limb overuse injury including De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis, trigger finger and carpal tunnel
  • Prescription of orthoses for protection and return to sport and work
  • Advice on return to sport and strengthening exercises to stabilize the injured area

Do I need a referral?

A referral is not required for a Hand Therapy consultation.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring any scans or x-rays etc. that you have had that relate to your injury.

How long will the session take?

Consultations are generally between 30 and 60 minutes.

Can I get a rebate?

Patients with Private Health Insurance that include ‘Extras Cover’ may be covered for Hand Therapy services. Please check with your health fund.

Is this service covered by Private Health Insurance?

Yes, all private health insurers are covered and we have a HICAPS machine to make your claiming easier.
