Sports Cardiologists

David Bertovic is a Cardiologist with both a personal and professional interest in the cardiovascular aspects of sport and exercise, and the role of exercise in individuals with established cardiovascular disease.

He obtained his undergraduate medical degree from Monash University in 1999. As part of his undergraduate training, he completed the honours degree of Bachelor of Medical Science in 1996, researching the effects of prolonged athletic training upon blood pressure and other aspects of the human vascular system.

After working at The Geelong Hospital and The Alfred Hospital, David completed his advanced physician training in cardiology at Monash Medical Centre and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2007.

He is currently undertaking PhD research studies at The Alfred Hospital and the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute.

Associate Professor David Prior

Assoc. Professor David Prior

David Prior is a cardiologist at St Vincent's Hospital where he is the Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology and Head of the Cardiology Outpatient Clinic. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne. After training in Cardiology at the Alfred Hospital, he completed a PhD at the Baker Medical Research Institute and then undertook a 2 year Fellowship in Echocardiography at the Cleveland Clinic.

His clinical and research interests include assessment of cardiac function in health and disease, sports cardiology, heart failure and pulmonary hypertension.
