Dr. Susan White’s initial medical training was completed at Monash University and Prince Henry’s Hospital in Melbourne, completing her medical elective at the AIS in 1988. Susan commenced as a Registrar at Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre in 1992, completing her sports physician specialist training and was awarded a fellowship in 1996. Susan’s professional areas of interests include swimming, netball, rowing, pregnancy and exercise, paralympic sport, drugs in sport and women in sport.

Susan has had extensive involvement with Paralympic Sport and attended the Paralympics in 1992 (Barcelona/Madrid) as team doctor and 1996 (Atlanta) as overall medical director.

Susan has a particular interest in rowing and during the 90’s provided medical services to the VIS rowing squad (including the Oarsome Foursome). She continues to see school age and University level rowers.

Since 1999 Susan has been the Chief Medical Officer for Netball Australia and was Team Doctor for the Australian Netball team between 1999 and 2003. She had been the doctor for both Phoenix and Kestrels netball teams since the inception of the National League 10 years ago, and is currently team doctor for the Melbourne Vixens.

Susan also has a special interest in pregnancy and exercise and was a member of the national panel and working group that devised the SMA Benefits and Risks of Exercise during Pregnancy Statement in 2003 following Netball Australia’s ban on pregnant netballers.

Susan has been a member of ASDMAC (Australian Sports Drug Medical Advisory Committee) since 1999, which provides advice to athletes, sporting bodies and other doctors about drugs in sport, and also involves sitting on anti-doping tribunals. Most recently Susan was a senior member of the M2006 organising committee, predominantly involved in the anti-doping programme

Susan is currently Chief Medical Officer for Swimming Australia and she was Team Doctor for the Swim team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics
