Bio

Dr Jacob Jewson has followed his passion for sport and exercise medicine since graduating from his medical degree in 2015. While working as a junior doctor at the Alfred Hospital, Jacob also worked for the Western Bulldogs AFLW and Footscray VFL teams. In 2019, he moved to Sydney for his first year of registrar training and worked in a variety of sports, including touring with the Young Socceroos. Jacob moved back to Melbourne in 2020, after sorely missing footy for 12 months, and started working with the Demons in the AFL in 2021.

Jacob was a founding member of the Sport and Exercise Medicine Students’ Association and has completed an honours degree in medical science where he investigated the relationship between metabolic disease and musculoskeletal pain, an area which he remains very interested in. He continues to be involved in various research projects including the use of smartphone technologies to detect arrhythmias in athletes.

Jacob is keen to help all patients of all abilities achieve their goals, whether it be through managing acute or chronic injuries to facilitate sport and exercise, or through using exercise as prevention/treatment of chronic disease.
