New Registrars OPSMC 2022

OPSMC is a leading training practice for Sport and Exercise Physicians and has been throughout its existence. It was involved in the formation of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians and continues an active involvement including training future specialists in the field of Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM).

Sport and Exercise Medicine Registrars are undertaking a 4 year specialist training program. They are fully qualified doctors. They work at OPSMC under supervision to develop their skills as specialists to practice medicine as it applies to all areas of physical activity. This doesn’t just apply to sports people but all active Australians. Their work includes diagnosing and managing injuries, pain and limitations on performance in sport, work and life. They are also understand the importance of exercise in health and medical conditions, as well as its role on prevention.

Each of them already has experience in the practice of sports medicine through previous training posts and work with sporting teams and organizations as you can see in their profiles.

What is a Sport and Exercise Registrar?
A medical doctor undertaking advanced training with the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians to practice in the specialty.

Do I Need a Referral?
No but communication from/with previous treating practitioners will always benefit your care. Bring any correspondence you have and previous investigations that are relevant.

What Does Their Training and Supervision Involve?

Having successfully completed an entrance procedure (including exams) they practice under supervision in approved practices, complete ongoing assessments and tasks/procedures as well as gaining experience in related areas such as team and event coverage. Successful completion to gain specialist accreditation includes 4 years of this training, exit exams, research submission and several other academic and clinical tasks.
